Sean Casey, MD - Biography
Chairman - General Partner

     Sean's career in business started in 1998 as a member of the medical advisory board of Vital Images, Inc., a Minnesota based provider of 3-D visualization software applications. 

    In 2001, Sean founded Virtual Radiologic Corporation (:VRAD) and served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. From 2001 to 2008, Sean grew Virtual Radiologic Corporation from his small home office based start up company, to one that generated over $100 million in annual revenue, provided patient care to over 1,000 hospitals, clinics and emergency rooms trough out the United States, and employed over 300 physicians and employees. In 2007 Sean completed a successful $100 million Initial Public Offering for VRAD with Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch, and was named the Ernst & Young  Entrepreneur of the Year.  

     In 2010 Sean founded and now serves as Chairman and General Partner of Omphalos Venture Partners, LLC. Under his tenure Omphalos Venture Partners has led investments in dozens of early stage technology, medical device, healthcare services and SAAS companies. 

    Sean is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. An American Board of Radiology - certified radiologist, Dr. Casey was a pioneer in the clinical use of cerebral CT angiography and venography, as well as other 3-D post processing applications.

Mark Marlow - Biography
President - Managing Partner

      Mark's career in finance started in 1991 at Miller, Johnson and Kuehn, a Minneapolis based Investment Banking Firm. In 1995 he joined the newly formed start up company Wam!Net, soon to be a global provider of IT services for the media industry. There he served as Controller and Vice President of Finance from 1995 to 1997, and Executive Vice President of Finance from 1998 to 2003.   During his tenure at Wam!Net he helped manage and direct the growth  from a start up company to over $1 billion in government contracts, such as the Navy and Marine Corp Global Secure Network Initiative,  and 450 worldwide employees.  He also managed the process of capitalizing Wam!Net's operations by managing the efforts of raising  $208 million dollars from a high yield publicly traded bond offering with Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse as lead underwriters, and closing several $100 million dollar Strategic and Private equity placements with MCI Worldcom, Silicon Graphics and Winstar Communications, between 1996 and 2000. In 2001 Mark led and managed Wam!Net’s process of the filing for its $100 million dollar Initial Public Offering  with Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch as lead underwriters.  In 2002 Mark helped manage the acquisition of Wam!Net by Savvis Communications, Inc., the M&A transaction was funded by Cerberus Capital Management.
    In 2003 Mark joined Virtual Radiologic Corporation (NASDAQ: VRAD) as its Chief Financial Officer, Chief Accounting Officer and Treasurer. During his tenure he managed VRADs growth from less than $5.0 million in annual revenues in 2003, to over $100 million of annual revenues in 2008. During this time he completed several successful private equity placements , two successful strategic telemedicine acquisitions and a successful $100 Million dollar Initial Public Offering led by Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and William Blair.  Within 6 months of the IPO, Virtual Radiologic’s market capitalization was in excess of $500 Million. 

   In 2010 Mark founded Omphalos Venture Partners, LLC,  a early stage emerging market venture fund to serve the greater Minneapolis area, and now serves as its President and Managing Partner. Under his tenure Omphalos Venture Partners has led investments in dozens of technology, medical device, healthcare service, SAAS, robotics and sensor technology companies.  With Mark’s focus on providing early stage capital, advice, entrepreneurial  CEO mentoring and board governance, Omphalos Ventures Partners has been a strong positive influence in Minnesota’s entrepreneurial health care industry.  
   Mark holds a B.S.B.A and M.B.A.  from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and has held a N.A.S.D. Series 7 General Securities License. He also served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy and is a graduate of the  Navy Surface Warfare Division Officers School in Newport, RI in 1988.
